a nestle of nests
I've never nestled with a native nest in Nebraska
perfecting my route to go off route.
thinking about the pile of discarded rims we parked next to
could be used as bells
there will be music in little Italy
we drive the long way
because the long way makes sense
I pick my leaves and dance around the mulberry trees. Time to boil what I picked and start my next study of learning each plant with their different textures and many stories of their heritage before time existed. The sunsets here fly by so quick.
Last night I made spaghetti and this morning Daniel made pancakes. Cats are fleeing from step to step on their spiral staircase.

I make a path & sharpen my tools
for fear of having become dull I give myself jobs to do everyday what needs to be done what is useful easier that way |
until the work takes over
hose to cool myself & wash away the work. what remains is a painting. an unfinished symphony. until the sun completes it drawing lines from the Tempietto while the birds & bugs, trains & trucks sing |

Alyssa Newsham (b. 1997, New Orleans, LA) is based in Los Angeles. She is a self taught artist and is influenced by her Creole culture in stories told to her, folklores, and ancestral traditions that she aims to keep alive.

Daniel Schubert is an artist based out of Los Angeles, CA near where he was born. His time is divided between working in his home studio, professionally over the road as a truck driver, and on an undeveloped piece of family land, called blue-ridge, where he works with the land and builds site specific pieces. Schubert considers all of this to be part of his practice, whether it’s moving along the land and road, restoring old hand tools, maintaining land, vehicles, and home; it all leads back and reflects in the studio. He is a collector and gatherer, a fan of fallen and salvaged material, often time, through time, these things become something else that last, or else they are used up until they can no longer serve a purpose. Notable exhibitions include The Shed Echo Park, Arvia Los Angeles, Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection Chicago, and Garash Galleria CDMX.
